ominique Trixx didn't jump out of a nocturnal scene in Paris in the 30's, or a cabaret in Germany in the 20's, or a Spaghetti Western, for that matter, but she fancies herself a keeper of the torch by expanding on imagery from those eras (and anywhere else, actually) with original flair. Employing burlesque as a medium, she creates jaunty, slinky and sultry powerhouse performances.
Dominique Trixx has been performing burlesque professionally since 2006 and is an original member of the Award winning Chicago Starlets, proud holders of World's Best Group Title from the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas in 2010. She performed with the Starlets for 5 years.
Dominique likes to define her solo performances as little mise-en-scenes, complete with strong characters and a good dose of "nudge nudge wink wink" tease and classic burlesque - Straight up as well as on the rocks, if you will.
Uniquely Dominique Trixx routines include her twist on the classic cowgirl, the party girl, a vintage French coquette, a 50's Italian sweetheart, even a Cavegirl. She is proud of her signature Batcave Fan Dance, and her take on the classic Beach Girl pin-up. Musically she draws from all styles, a few languages, and different eras. Examples: the Clash, Marc Almond, Ennio Morricone, Jacques Brel, and a very special signature twist on the Pink Panther theme. Improvising is one of her specialties and she loves to dance alongside a live band, which she did in Michelle L'amour's monthy series at Motel Bar, and at the Everleigh Social Club Speakeasy Sunday.
Dominique Trixx loves the energy of a crowd and has performed in festivals such as Tease-O-Rama in San Francisco, the Toronto Burlesque Festival, New Orleans Burlesque Festival, Best of Midwest Burlesque, in New York City @ the Bowery Poetry Club, and in (almost) every theater you can name in Chicago! She was also one of the original girls in Naked Girls Reading, Michelle L'amour's acclaimed monthly reading series, and, yes, naked.
Dominique has joyfully graced the stages (or risers), and sometimes even bartops, in Chicago at the historic Music Box Theatre, at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco, Chicago's Mayne Stage Theater , Motel Bar, the Empty Bottle, The Abbey, Strawdog Theatre, Chopin Theatre, Subterranean, Five Star Bar, the Lakeshore Theatre, at Kira's Oasis in Dayton, Ohio, Urban DeComp Chicago, Joe's on Weed St, Trapdoor Theater. She has guested with Spitfire Comedy Group, modeled and performed for Dr. Sketchy's Chicago, and Bordello, the artist's salon. She spent many years at Studio L'amour and credits Michelle L'amour and Franky Vivid for all the opportunities they created for her.
She can't wait to give you a dose of her trixx-y treats and tease!
This weekend, local burlesque troupe Toil & Trouble will launch its 2013 season with a nod to the Oscars. Pieces to be performed will play off of the saucy and sultry side of Hollywood, from silver-screen classics to modern blockbusters. Mistress Victoria de Ville will play host, introducing acts national, regional, and local, including Jeez Loueez, Dominique Trixx, Po'Chop, Musette the Mistress of Mischief, Queenie Von Curves, Redbone, and Mona Montague. While none of these performances will be up for Oscars this year, these ladies know how to put on a show far more entertaining than what you'll find at a dry and unending awards ceremony. An Article in Chicago's Redeye Magazine
The art of burlesque is alive and well, despite the terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad Cher/Christina Aguilera vehicle. Fans of comely teasing accompanied by cocktails should check out “Live NEW’D Girls”tomorrow night at 8 p.m. at Martyr’s (3856 N. Lincoln Ave.).
“Live NEW’D Girls” will feature the best and brightest of Chicago’s thriving burlesque scene, performing never-before-seen acts. The soloists have names like Honey Halfpint and and Dominique Trixx (if that’s not a selling point, I don’t know what is), and the acclaimed Chicago Starlets troupe will debut a number that according to the show’s Web site, is “sure to make you hot under the collar.”
Michelle L’amour – “America’s Got Talent” finalist, world-renowned performer, and proprietor of Studio L’amour – headlines with her new act, “Whole Lotta L’amour.”
